Our Story

Founded in 2010, Kettell Beerworks is the sole brewery of Avery County. After falling in love with the beer, current owners Joe and Susan Royall bought Kettell in January 2024. They spent many years visiting the Blue Ridge Mountains while residents of both Burke and Catawba County before buying their permanent home in Avery County in 2017. Joe and Susan's vision for Kettell is simple; family. Combining a family-owned brewery with the community that surrounds it to create an atmosphere where everyone that steps through the door and sips the beer feels like they are a part of the Kettell Beerworks family.
